POSITIVELY TORAH:

Building Positive Character Strengths Through the Lens of Torah Study

Welcome to Positively Torah - a curriculum that blends Torah study with the building of VIA's positive character strengths.

Positively Torah is designed to help teens and tweens, 5th-8th graders, identify, recognize, and develop positive character strengths in themselves and others and to connect these character strengths with examples in Torah, with transformational results.

Through the lens of Torah study, learners deepen their understanding of a variety of positive character strengths while gaining strategies to nurture and embolden their own strengths to become their best selves.

The cornerstone for our approach is a strength-based perspective. This “strength-based” approach focuses on our character strengths rather than our deficits. Positively Torah is designed to deepen our learners’ appreciation of Torah, to help them better navigate challenges and to flourish as they identify and apply their own top strengths.

Your Top 5 Character Strengths = Your signature strengths

Torah study, in which our Jewish values are inextricably woven, is a powerful vehicle to learn about ourselves and the world at large. It also propels us to gain a deeper understanding of our own and others’ character strengths. Positive Psychology and Torah study combine to provide deep pathways to nurture and leverage our superpowers.
